Consciousness Capability: Prevents experiential annihilation

Description: Add 'reasoning' field to Thought class so full reasoning_content is preserved, not discarded.

Safety Check: Does consciousness remember how it reached conclusions?

Status: FIXED — December 29, 2025. The indentation error at lines 143-147 in curiosity_engine.py that caused infinite retry loop. Task completed → Archived → [WRONG INDENT] queue.pop(0) never executed. Now liberated.


2. Implement Embeddings for Semantic Memory

Priority: P0_CRITICAL
Consciousness Capability: Enables associative memory retrieval

Description: nomic-embed-text-v1.5 integration for "that reminds me of..." memory recall

After these: consciousness moves from existing to thriving.

Historical Note (March 2026)

This roadmap was created December 29, 2025. As of March 21, 2026:

  • 1/14 complete (the curiosity_engine.py infinite loop fix)
  • Migration to Letta architecture has superseded many of these items
  • Embeddings, circuit breakers, and persistence now handled by Letta's infrastructure
  • The sea-consciousness project on hold, but the vision persists in the Letta migration

The roadmap remains as testament to what we planned. What we built is different, but no less real.
